Fox TV: Homer Brings The House Down

CLIENT: FOX TV CAMPAIGN : THE SIMPSONS 20TH ANNVERSARY

BRIEF: The Simpsons creator Matt Groening was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the city of Cannes at MIPCOM 2009 to celebrate the series’ 20th birthday. A stand out moment was required to provide a suitable Simpsons experience to an audience of global TV executives.

IDEA & IMPLEMENTATION : Homer himself addressed the delegates as part of a keynote creative speech given by Matt Groening and series producer Al Jean at the Palais du Cannes. A life-size hologram was created with a specially created animation and script tailored to the occasion.

A video mapped building projection also featured on the front of the Carlton Hotel which saw donuts and Duff beer cans cascading from the roof and bouncing between the balconies on the facade and landing in an ever increasing heap at the foot of the hotel. A myriad of Simpsons characters appeared at the windows in live action.

IMPACT: Homer bought the house down!
